FLAG-RAISING CEREMONY
FROM FOLK LITERATURE TO THE TAM PHỦ – TỨ PHỦ HẦU ĐỒNG CULTURE
Written by: Ngọc Vẹn
With the aim of fostering awareness of preserving, cultivating, and promoting traditional national values—living with gratitude, loyalty, and honoring those who have contributed to our upbringing—this event seeks to develop students' cultural and artistic skills, strengthen the "Good Teaching – Good Learning" movement, and create a healthy, engaging platform for students to cultivate their love for learning while enhancing their creative thinking through departmental activities.
With the approval of the Board of Directors of Elite high school (Can Tho University), the Literature Department, in collaboration with the Music Club, organized a FIRST-TIME EVER event at Elite high school: The Tam Phủ – Tứ Phủ Hầu Đồng Culture.
This is a unique spiritual and cultural practice of the Vietnamese people—the Hầu Đồng ritual—featuring the sacred and beautiful figure of Cô Đôi Thượng Ngàn, one of the most revered deities in the Mother Goddess worship belief system. The event also highlights the deep connection between Vietnamese folk literature and indigenous spiritual beliefs.
Beyond delivering an insightful presentation, Nguyễn Đàm Minh Anh, a 10D2 student from a family with four generations of Tam Phủ – Tứ Phủ Hầu Đồng tradition in Quảng Bình – Nghệ An, vividly and impressively reenacted this distinctive art form.
The Literature Department and the Music Club of Elite high school present this special performance with the hope of enriching students' knowledge and fostering a deeper appreciation for Vietnam’s unique cultural heritage. We hope this performance leaves a lasting impression on an engaging and meaningful Monday morning assembly.
