A1K13’s Final Flag Duty

When did we realize that we had grown up?

For us, the students of A1K13, perhaps it was the moment when our final flag duty of our high school years came to an end. That was when we truly realized that we had become “grown-ups.”

It was not just the last time we stood together in the schoolyard. It was also one of the many “last times” of our high school years: the last time we performed our familiar routine together, the last time we practiced for a performance without worrying about the time, and the last time we could stand together in the schoolyard, sing, laugh, have fun, and give it our all.

We, the students of A1K13, finally understood that our 1,000 days at school—a place we have always thought of as our “home,” our youth, and the most beautiful years of our lives—were truly coming to an end.

Yet, putting our bittersweet feelings aside, something changed in that very moment. When Mr. Huynh called out with his usual energy, “And now, it’s time for A1K13’s flag duty!”, our whole class seemed to come alive.

There was no hesitation and no more sadness. We were determined to give everything we had to that moment—a moment we knew could never happen again.

Together, we created powerful dance moves and beautiful melodies, pouring all the emotions of our school years into every corner of the schoolyard and every row of trees at Can Tho University Elite High School.

Perhaps, years from now, when we look back on our youth, we will still remember a morning like this—when A1K13 laughed so much, sang so loudly, and lived every moment to the fullest together.

And in that special moment, it was not just us.

Walking alongside A1K13 throughout these years were the teachers who taught us, cared for us, and loved us from the very beginning—back when we were still the youngest students, taking our first steps into Grade 10.

That is why A1K13 prepared a small “Thank-You Gift” filled with our heartfelt appreciation for our beloved teachers.

It was more than just a gift. It was our way of saying thank you to the people who helped make our youth so beautiful and meaningful.

Finally, from the bottom of our hearts, we, the students of A1K13, wish all our teachers good health, happiness, and the strength to keep the flame of their passion for teaching alive.

To all our friends and younger students, we wish you happiness, strength, and the courage to give your all to the years ahead.

And above all, we wish “us” — A1K13 that, even though we may each go our separate ways someday, we will always remember one another, remember Can Tho University Elite High School, and remember that we once shared such a beautiful chapter of youth together.
