 'UNDERSTANDING YOURSELF-UNDERSTANDING THE PROFESSION- IN THE FUTURE'

Counseling and career guidance for students is always one of the crucial activities that are prioritized for The Elite high school in particular and Can Tho University in general. The fact that students choose the right career and choose the right school to study will help them promote their abilities, strengths and also develop their potential to the fullest along with getting more opportunities for promotion in the future. Knowing the importance of students' career orientation, in the afternoon of August 28, 2023, The Elite High School cooperated with the Ho Chi Minh City Career Orientation Center to organize for students of all grades, especially those in grade 12, the career counseling program "Understanding yourself-Understanding the profession-Creating the future".

The message of the seminar which all school teachers want their students to know: Be with yourself, understand what you are good at, what you are passionate about.

At the seminar, the students of the school were advised by Dr. Huynh Anh Binh - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Career Orientation Center on understanding oneself, discovering ones’ strengths and nurturing ones’ dreams & career orientation for the future; the importance of choosing a career; the reasons leading to choosing the wrong career; the consequences of choosing the wrong career; what factors are needed to choose the right career; consider the downside of the profession when choosing a career; information about the majors that will attract people in the future; ...

Speaker - Psychologist- Dr. Huynh Anh Binh, director of Ho Chi Minh City Career Orientation Center  talked about  the topic 'Understanding yourself-Understanding the profession-Creating the future'.

 Think long and hard

According to expert Huynh Anh Binh, most of today's students are always struggling with questions: what do you do to study this major?, but never ask themselves that if they want to do this job, which major should they go to, at which school? This is an outdated mindset. If students do not change their way of thinking, it is likely that in the future, students will continue to be one of thousands of unemployed masters and bachelors or belong to 60% of young people who have completed their degrees but are working in the wrong professions (according to the figures of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs).

During the seminar, expert Huynh Anh Binh reminded: the first step of choosing a career is to learn about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses, personality, passion, and self-orientation in the future. The second step is to choose a career that suits that characteristic. The third step is to choose a major to achieve the desired profession . 'And finally, choose a training system, choose a school that suits your academic performance and circumstances to be able to work in the profession you want in the future.''' 'Besides, the expert also advised not to choose industries according to the current trends, since  ''you will be the one who has to lived with your career for decades''.'

 Whole-hearted sharing

In the counseling and career orientation seminar "Understand yourself, understand your profession, brighten the future" in 90 minutes, not only just talking about life and necessary skills, Dr. Huynh Anh Binh also interest listeners with his effective way of communicating and funny stories. The expert showed a multi-dimensional and insightful perspective to help students make the right choices for the future.

From the helpful pieces of advice, it helps students understand their own values, abilities, interests and equip them with essential knowledge regarding identifying the right profession as well as the path to strive for the future.

Dr. Huynh Thi Thuy Diem, Vice Principal of the school on behalf of the collective of The Elite High School, gave flowers to thank the speaker Huynh Anh Binh after the seminar had ended.

Surprise birthday presents

An unexpected thing happened, in the seminar that afternoon, the whole school sang Happy Birthday to a student to celebrate his birthday along with that he also received a bouquet  from expert Huynh Anh Binh, that is Tran Duy Quang from class A3K11, a student whose birthday coincides with the date of the seminar on August 28. This coincidence made the talk comfortable and joyful until the very last minute.

Tran Duy Quang from class 11A3, fortunately received a surprise gift from expert Huynh Anh Binh and all teachers - students of the whole school.

All teachers were present at the seminar with all students singing happy birthday to Tran Duy Quang from class 11A3.

 Hopefully with the useful sharing of the speaker, The Elite High school students will have a successful new school year. Especially for 12th graders who are preparing to enter one of the most important exams in their lives: the National High School Exam of the school year 2023 - 2024.
