On October 14, 2023, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, head of STEM education center, Ho Chi Minh University of Pedagogy, shared a STEM education training workshop for personnel, teachers, and staff of CTU Elite highschool. STEM education is now available in the majority of advanced countries throughout the world and is taught in high school.
STEM education is, however, still in its early stages in Vietnam. The training session covers a wide range of STEM education knowledge and application in the 2018 Vietnam General Education Program. STEM education is an interdisciplinary teaching strategy that helps students utilize scientific, technological, technical, and mathematical knowledge to address real issues in a specific setting. STEM education can help teachers better understand and prepare future students for careers in science and technology.
STEM education provides pupils with numerous practical scientific values that are appropriate for diverse student populations and instructional organization styles. Students therefore will be able to tackle real-world challenges using multidisciplinary knowledge, equip skills for global citizens in the twenty-first century, improve their interest in learning STEM education subjects, and most importantly, connect schools with the community, Career Orientation, and Gender equality.
CTU Elite highschool now arranges STEM teaching and learning for students participating in the Ministry of Education and Training's 2018 educational program for two periods per class per week. The STEM training program is expected to benefit both present and future teaching activities at the institution.
