CAN THO UNIVERSITY ELITE HIGH SCHOOL WELCOMES DELEGATION FROM CHIHLEE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY – TAIWAN FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE

From September 6 to 11, 2026, Can Tho University Elite High School (CTU-EHS) was delighted to welcome a delegation of faculty members and students from Chihlee University of Technology (Taiwan) for a visit, cultural exchange, and a series of cultural experiences with the school’s administrators, teachers, and students.

The visit was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen educational connections and cultural exchange between the two institutions. More importantly, it brought together friends who had first met in Taiwan and continued their journey of exchange in Can Tho, building on the two-week Chinese Language and Cultural Exchange Summer Camp held in July 2026.

Cultural Exchange at CTU-EHS

During their stay at CTU-EHS, the delegation from Chihlee University of Technology organized a variety of cultural activities for the students. Through a learning-by-doing approach, CTU-EHS students had the opportunity to actively participate in and explore distinctive aspects of Taiwanese culture.

One of the activities that attracted considerable interest was a paper lantern-making workshop. Under the guidance of Taiwanese students, CTU-EHS students created colorful paper lanterns while learning more about the cultural significance of lanterns in Taiwanese life and traditions.

The students also had the opportunity to experience making Aiyu jelly (愛玉), a popular Taiwanese dessert and beverage ingredient. The activity allowed them to learn about the ingredients and preparation process while enjoying a new flavor in a friendly and interactive atmosphere.

Chinese calligraphy was another culturally enriching activity. Students from Chihlee University of Technology introduced CTU-EHS students to basic brush-handling techniques and guided them in writing simple Chinese characters. Through each brushstroke, students gained a deeper appreciation of calligraphy and traditional East Asian cultural values.

Another highlight was the bubble milk tea-making activity, which created a lively and engaging atmosphere. CTU-EHS students took part in preparing, mixing, and completing their own drinks under the guidance of Taiwanese students. More than simply a culinary experience, the activity provided an opportunity for young people from both sides to interact, share, and build connections.

Exploring Can Tho – The Land of the Western Capital

As part of the visit, the faculty and students from Chihlee University of Technology also had the opportunity to explore some of Can Tho’s iconic landmarks and distinctive cultural attractions.

The delegation visited Cai Rang Floating Market, one of the most representative cultural destinations of the Mekong Delta. There, they experienced the unique lifestyle of river communities and learned about trading activities on the waterways and the distinctive daily life of local residents.

The delegation also visited Ong De Tourism Village, where they explored the region’s ecological and cultural features, learned more about life in the Mekong Delta’s fruit-growing areas, and participated in activities reflecting the traditional culture of southern Vietnam.

At Ninh Kieu Wharf, the delegation had the opportunity to admire the beauty of Can Tho along the Hau River and experience one of the most iconic cultural and tourism landmarks of the city.

These excursions not only allowed the Chihlee delegation to discover the landscapes and culture of Can Tho but also created more opportunities for natural and meaningful interaction among members of the two institutions.

From Taiwan to Can Tho – Building Lasting Friendships

The September 2026 exchange was particularly meaningful as it continued the summer camp program held in July 2026 at Chihlee University of Technology. During that program, teachers and students from CTU-EHS traveled to Taiwan to participate in a two-week summer camp, learn Chinese, explore Taiwanese culture, and interact with faculty members and students at Chihlee University of Technology.

If July was an opportunity for CTU-EHS teachers and students to “come to Taiwan,” September provided an opportunity for friends from Chihlee University of Technology to “come to Can Tho.” This two-way exchange has helped strengthen the relationship between the two institutions in a meaningful and practical way.

Through learning, cultural experiences, and interaction, CTU-EHS students had opportunities to practice foreign languages, develop communication skills, and broaden their understanding of international cultures. At the same time, Taiwanese students had the opportunity to learn more about the people, culture, and educational environment of Vietnam.

From colorful paper lanterns and Chinese calligraphy to bubble milk tea and Aiyu jelly, and from visits to Cai Rang Floating Market and Ninh Kieu Wharf to exploring the waterways and cultural landscapes of Can Tho, the exchange program from September 6 to 11, 2026, created many memorable moments and meaningful experiences for members of both institutions.

The visit further reflects Can Tho University Elite High School’s commitment to international integration, cultural exchange, and global connectivity, while opening up further opportunities for academic cooperation, learning, and cultural exchange between CTU-EHS and Chihlee University of Technology in the future.
